Fairfax, VA - Yesterday a House Resolution was introduced by a bipartisan group of members, including Representatives Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Garrett Graves (R-GA), Bryan Steil (R-WI), and Joe Morelle (D-NY), which recognizes the third week of August as National Congressional Staff Recognition Week each year.
On behalf of all our members, we want to thank these lawmakers for working with NILE on this Resolution. This Resolution is an important way for us to recognize the public service commitment made by congressional staff every day. Congressional staff are on our government's frontlines, ensuring that their constituents' voices are heard. Congressional staff spend countless hours working on critical issues impacting all Americans.
This Resolution is a way for all of us to thank the incredible professionals who staff our government. This Resolution is an opportunity for all of us to recognize the work congressional staff do and the voice they give to all of us.
Thank you to the four members for leading this effort in a bi-partisan way. Thank you for working with NILE on solutions that will help efforts to bring civility and collegiality back to Capitol Hill.
We urge every member of the House to support this Resolution. We urge Congress to make this a priority vote when Congress reconvenes in September. We will now work with the Senate on moving to pass their own Resolution. Let’s all work together to show congressional staff just how important they are.
